About Dr. Sunny Tatra

About Dr. Sunny Tatra

With practice in family dentistry since 2003, Dr. Tatra is proud to have a reputation for helping children and adults feel comfortable at the dental clinic.

Dr. Tatra gained his Doctor in Dental Medicine (DMD) degree at UBC under the Canadian Military Dental Officers Training Program. He also has a BSc. and MSc. in Plant Molecular Physiology. Coming from a family of doctors, Dr.Tatra started his career as a medic and a health administrator. Dr. Tatra now sponsors two teaching clinics at the UBC Faculty of Dentistry and four bursaries. He’s honoured to help young dentists in their training to serve British Columbians.

Dr. Tatra comments, “I’m fortunate to have a career in dentistry. I’m lucky to wake up each day knowing I’ll give people a reason to smile. Helping people become healthier and express their natural confidence is my way of giving back.

After all these years, I still look forward each day to meeting my patients and working with my amazing team of professionals. I can’t imagine doing anything else. When I’m not in the clinic, you might find me with the volunteers of the Victoria and District Dental Society. I might also be helping fundraise for various charitable events hosted by the German Auto Import Network (which we are proud sponsors of) and the David Foster Foundation, both of which benefit all the families that call Vancouver Island home.

Chay

Chay

Office Manager

Chay, a Camosun College alumna, has been a vital part of our team since she graduated as a Certified Dental Assistant in 2015. Initially joining us as a practicum student, her skill and passion were so evident that we welcomed her into the fold immediately after graduation. Chay’s enthusiasm for helping patients regain their confident smiles is palpable. In May 2022, she seamlessly transitioned into the Office Manager role following the retirement of our long-standing manager. Outside of her professional life, Chay cherishes time with her loved ones and thrives on the water, training for both Dragon Boat and Outrigger canoeing.

Alison

Alison

Hygienist

Dr. Tatra‘s Dental Clinic is thrilled to announce the return of Alison, fondly known as ’Ally.‘ A Saskatchewan-trained dental therapist and registered dental hygienist, Ally brings decades of experience to our team. Not only has she maintained her professional accreditation with rigorous continuing education, but she’s also a pro in medical emergency CPR, updating her certification annually. Having worked in periodontal offices alongside several prosthodontists, Ally’s expertise is vast and diverse. Alison also worked with me before in another clinic from 2004 to 2007, and we are delighted to have her back. Currently, she extends her care at Mount Saint Mary’s senior’s home, enriching the lives of residents. When not professionally active, Ally revels in exploring Vancouver Island, indulging in junior genealogy, and volunteering at her church to assist others in tracing their lineage. As she transitions to our community in James Bay, Ally is eager to make new connections, having dedicated the last decade to serving the Western Communities.

Amy

Amy

Certified Dental Assistant (CDA)

Amy, a recent graduate from dental college and Susie‘s former classmate at Camosun, became a cherished member of the Tatra dental clinic team in downtown Victoria in October 2023. We are very fortunate she joined our clinic when the opportunity arose. As a certified dental assistant, Amy’s addition to our staff is a source of pride and excitement for us all.
