There’s lots of people in this world who spend so much time watching their health that they haven’t the time to enjoy it.

— Josh Billings

Dr. Tatra serves his clients in a brand new latex-free facility with the digital imaging technology and equipment. Maintaining his client-centered approach to dental care, Dr. Tatra has designed the bright and spacious new clinic to give you access to exceptional dental service and technology, including diagnostic and sterilization technologies, massaging chairs, and faster access to care in case of dental emergencies.

Dr. Sunny Tatra

With practice in family dentistry since 2003, Dr. Tatra is proud to have a reputation for helping children and adults feel comfortable at the dental clinic.

Dr. Tatra gained his Doctor in Dental Medicine (DMD) degree at UBC under the Canadian Military Dental Officers Training Program. He also has a BSc. and MSc. in Plant Molecular Physiology. Coming from a family of doctors, Dr.Tatra started his career as a medic and a health administrator. Dr. Tatra now sponsors two teaching clinics at the UBC Faculty of Dentistry and four bursaries. He’s honoured to help young dentists in their training to serve British Columbians.

Dr. Tatra comments, “I’m fortunate to have a career in dentistry. I’m lucky to wake up each day knowing I’ll give people a reason to smile. Helping people become healthier and express their natural confidence is my way of giving back. After all the years, I still look forward each day to meeting my patients and working with my amazing team of professionals. I can’t imagine doing anything else. When I’m not in the clinic, you might find me with the volunteers of the Victoria and District Dental Society. I might also be helping fundraise for various charitable events hosted by the German Auto Import Network (who we are proud sponsors for) and the David Foster Foundation, both of which benefit all the families that call Vancouver Island home.

The Team

Aileen

Aileen

Aileen is our Office Manager. She trained as a dental Office Receptionist in 2005 and was immediately hired by a dental office in Victoria. When Dr. Tatra became a partner in that business, she became his full time office manager, and Dr. Tatra calls her the backbone of the office.

Aileen says “I enjoy being the conduit to the office, and finding solutions is what I do. When not working, I am likely to be found at a live music venue or riding my motorcycle.”

Chay

Chay graduated from Camosun College as a Certified Dental Assistant in 2015. She enjoys her job, and loves seeing patients smile with confidence again. She joined us as a practicum student in 2015 and we knew she would be a wonderful addition to the team, so she stayed with us upon graduation.

When she’s not working she likes spending time with family and friends. She also loves being on the water, training for Dragon Boat and Outrigger.

Heather

Heather

Heather graduated from Camosun College’s Dental Hygiene Program and then earned a Bachelor of Dental Science in Dental Hygiene from UBC. She joined the team when we opened the new office in August 2014, which has been wonderful for our team and patients; a true asset.

Heather says “I enjoy getting to know patients and helping them achieve optimum oral health. Outside of work I love spending time outdoors with my husband and two young children.”

Rachelle

Rachelle

Rachelle started as a receptionist with us in 2007. In 2011 she graduated from Camosun College as a Hygienist, and to further her commitment to the dental hygiene profession she went on to complete a bachelor’s degree in Dental Sciences at UBC. Rachelle’s dedication to the health and wellbeing of our patients is evident in the positive outcomes that result from her patient-driven focus. She is truly an asset to our team and to our patients.

Rachelle’s off-work time is spent traveling, camping, hiking and enjoying the company of her friends and her little min-pin Coco.

Ashley

Ashley graduated from the Certified Dental Assistant program at CDI College Victoria in 2017. She completed her final practicum with Dr. Tatra and has been working with us ever since – another wonderful addition to the team. She loves her job, especially when she is working with children and individuals with special needs.

When she is not in the office, she can be found creating artwork of all kinds and enjoying an active lifestyle with her partner and two tiny Pomeranians – Sunni and Lulu.
